Amanda

Experimental art, architecture, literature and music has long interested Amanda.  In her twenties, she delved into the underground L.A. music scene, absorbing all she could from musicians and  artists  associated with the Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS), The Smell, and La Luz de Jesus Gallery, to name a few.  She also spent time working with the Threee (sic) Geniuses public access TV show, as a copy editor in alternative publishing at Feral House Press, and about a dozen other sundry activities and endeavors.

In her current life, she works as Senior Restaurant Systems Technician at Del Taco world headquarters.  She juggles work and family, and helps, whenever possible, to make her world a better place.

As a single woman, she lives with and cares for her mom and 10-year-old son, who has been identified as being on the autism spectrum.   Much of her free time is spent working with the Golden View School PTO, organizing and volunteering for various fundraisers, including the annual Jog-A-Thon and multiple restaurant-sponsored events.

Her creative endeavors include crocheting marvelous brightly-colored monster accessories for friends and family and, more recently, incorporating beading into crocheted jewelry.  She also has long aspired to learn welding so she can tinker with metal sculpture.

At the beginning of 2012 she designed and installed new water conservative landscaping in the front yard of her large corner lot home in Huntington Beach, using recycled and local materials.

Amanda firmly believes in the importance of giving back to community – to take an active part in shaping the world around oneself – that good changes can and will happen, if you just keep chipping away, learning new things, and doing what you do.
